ITPRO_Quiz

Quiz/Evaluation

1. What three major items you have learned from this course?
These are the major things that I learned from this course : making blogs, decision support system and concept on sdlc thru the long case. Making blogs is a new thing to me, its good to have learned this thing but it requires creativity to make your blogs more appealing. What I like best is the topic on decision support system. I may have not yet finished answering it but as I tried the tutorial I enjoyed it and I plan to incorporate it to my subjects where appropriate so my students will have an actual sample not only a theory of what DSS is. And lastly, I enjoyed also working with a group because I learned new things from them as we discuss matters and I also get to know them and have new friends in this community of MIT in UIC.
2. What things that your instructor do that you would suggest to continue doing in this class? Well, the thing enriching the subject is the great thing that he should always continue doing in this class.
3. What area needs to be improve on this course?
The schedule of the class should not be conducted too late in the evening because its too risky for some of us who goes home far from the city.
I suggest to get the levels of the students on one particular area or base it on the modules result and find out the common weaknesses and start discussing at that level so that everyone gets the common idea or learned the real thing on that subject because some of us have no formal training or our background is far from IT.

IT Outsourcing

IT Outsourcing:

IT Outsourcing is the practice of turning over responsibility of some to all of an organization's information system applications and operations to an outside firm. It has both an advantage and disadvantage on which the effect I guess will always be dependent on every organization.
In every organization the management is always concerned with its system effeciency and effectiveness. If IT outsourcing can maximize their flexibility and control to meet the needs of their business unit then they have to adopt the policy of outsourcing which means that they create a separate organization out of their IS department. In some cases an organiztion employing such will dissolve some or all of its IS units and may even fire all of its information systems employees to overcome operating problems they face in its IS units.
To outsource or not to outsource is really a tough decisions to be made by decison makers. So how should a manager approach IT sourcing decision? The authors gave ten quide questions that can be used and must be answered by decision makers in order to arrive with a sound decision.
